A Total Cabin is built from 44mm pressure-treated timber with a 50mm Kingspan insulated warm roof, and it is the most solid building we make. That helps, but we make no soundproofing claim: a timber cabin will not stop sound, only soften it.
Keep practice to sensible hours. Noise nuisance is dealt with by your council separately from planning permission.
A guitar and an amp need very little; a drum kit, a piano or a band wants the larger sizes. Lay the instruments out on the lawn at the real external size, which is a little different from the nominal one, and leave room to walk round them.
Cabin layouts are fixed: the windows and double doors cannot be moved to the side walls.
Instruments dislike damp and sudden changes in temperature. A cabin is not climate-controlled, so use a hygrometer, ventilate it, and keep valuable or sensitive instruments in the house.
Cabins come without electrics; have power and any heater fitted by a qualified electrician.
Every cabin needs a solid, level base prepared in advance; groundworks are not included. A music room for your own use is normally an ordinary outbuilding, but check the rules for your plot.
