Accessibility Statement
Last updated: July 2026
Total Sheds wants everyone to be able to browse, design and buy a garden building on this website — whatever device, assistive technology or connection they use. This statement applies to www.totalsheds.co.uk.
1. Our Commitment
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 level AA. Accessibility is treated as part of the build, not an afterthought: automated accessibility checks run against key pages in our continuous-integration pipeline, so regressions are caught before they reach you.
2. What We Have Done
- Every interactive control has a touch target of at least 44×44 pixels
- Colour is never the only carrier of meaning, and text colours are checked against our backgrounds for contrast — in both light and dark mode
- The whole site works with a keyboard: menus, dialogs, galleries and the checkout can be operated without a mouse, with visible focus styles
- Pages use semantic HTML (landmarks, headings, lists, buttons and links that say what they do) so screen readers can navigate by structure
- Images carry text alternatives; purely decorative graphics are hidden from assistive technology
- Forms have labels, and errors are described in text next to the field they belong to
- The site respects your system preference for dark mode, and text can be resized to 200% without loss of function
3. Conformance Status
This website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 level AA: most content fully conforms, but some parts listed under Known Limitations do not yet.
4. Known Limitations
- Assembly manuals (PDF): some of our downloadable assembly manuals are older documents that are not fully tagged for screen readers. If you need the content of a manual in another format, contact us and we will help directly.
- Payment forms: card and wallet payments are provided inside secure frames by Stripe, our payment provider. We choose their accessible defaults, but we cannot alter the internals of those frames ourselves.
- The Build Studio drawing: the interactive shed drawing is a visual tool. Every change it shows can also be made and reviewed through labelled buttons and text, but the drawing itself is not meaningful to a screen reader.
5. Feedback & Contact
If any part of this website is hard for you to use, we genuinely want to know — and if you cannot access something, we will get you the information another way (by phone, email or post).
Telephone: 0121 740 0132. Email: info@totalsheds.co.uk. Post: Total Sheds, 30 Dudley Road West, Tividale, B69 2HW. We aim to respond within 2 working days.
6. Preparation of This Statement
This statement was prepared in July 2026, based on our own testing with keyboard-only navigation, automated accessibility tooling in our build pipeline, and manual checks at phone, tablet and desktop sizes. We review it when the site changes significantly, and at least once a year.
