Thicker walls mean a warmer, more rigid, longer-lasting cabin — and a heavier price. 19mm suits summer use and storage. 28mm is the range’s middle and what most people choose for a room they want to use through spring and autumn. 40mm is the one to pick if you want a cabin that stays comfortable in winter.

A roofed, open-fronted section built onto the cabin, so part of the building is covered outdoor space. It is the difference between a cabin you sit in and a cabin you also sit outside of when it is raining.

The walls. A summer house is framed and clad, like our sheds; a log cabin is solid interlocking timber. The cabin is thicker, heavier and holds its heat better. A summer house is lighter, usually cheaper, and quicker to put up.

Yes. Unlike our tanalised sheds, log cabins arrive untreated and should be treated on all faces soon after assembly, then re-coated as the finish weathers. Doing it before the cabin has stood through a winter is the single thing that most affects how long it lasts.
