We added composite for the customer who never wants to pick up a paintbrush. The board is wood-plastic composite coloured all the way through, so a knock shows the same colour underneath instead of a pale scratch, and it simply never needs treating. It's the lowest-maintenance building we make, which is why it carries our longest warranty.

UV rating & colour fading
Straight answer: all composite fades a little — the quality of the cladding decides how much. Ours is UV-rated to hold its colour within 10% over 10 years, because the UV stabilisers are mixed through the board when it's made — not a coating that sunlight can wear off.
Cheaper boards skip or skimp the stabiliser package — that's the chalky, grey-washed composite you may have seen. Colour-through material plus the stabiliser mix is why ours also carries a 30-year manufacturer warranty.
